Every time my browser takes a few seconds to find a webpage it is diverted to bing search engine, it's really annoying. Anyway to get rid of this crap?

Yeah, use google Chrome.
I think you may have accepted a tool bar proposal to get something else(?) Try refereshing (deleting) your tool bar.
Use Linux.

That appears to be a hijacked browser. You may have some nasty spyware or malware on your computer. I would scan it with a reliable anti virus program and if it still exists, do a clean OS install.

BING is the new microsoft browser solution. You have to right clic on your toolbar and play with a couple things in there... like the live search toolbar on the top right hand side. I got it to stop bing cherrying me... but I don't remember how except I played in the toolbar...
but it wouldn't hurt to do a clean install, eh pannie?![]()
Zing! ...ah, I mean Bing!
Unless you use explorer 7... bing is here to stay... it comes with updates from microsoft... that are well hard to detect cos it is part of their safety package update.
If Bing is a headache for you just wait til Windows 7 hits the market on a widespread scale. I read that it will be impossible to access certain microsoft products without it. Gates is really gonna get us soon...
On the brighter side... if you have Bing... it is either because you have a genuine operating system or a hell of a good copy!!!
Windows 7 is a fine operating system...I'm using the RC now and love it...I'll give bing a chance.
...I'm rooting for microsoft now that it's finally the underdog...![]()
Actually you can remove bing. I use firefox and removed it this way:
How to Remove Bing as Your Default Search Engine and Get Firefox to Work the Way it Used to | eHow.com
Now google is back to default search engine. Took about 5 minutes
- If you're reading this article, you probably already have Firefox open. If not, load it up!
- Step 2
Locate your Firefox address bar. This is the box at the top of your page where you type in your searches, NOT the Google search bar that you might occasionally use.
Type the following into the address bar:
about:config
Type it EXACTLY the way shown above. Do not improvise or type it the way that YOU think it should be typed. Do not add commas, parentheses or quotation marks. You're serious about getting Google back as your default search engine, right?- Step 3
It will look almost exactly like this.
You'll see a scary warning that says, "This might void your warranty!".
Ignore it, and click on the little box that says, "I'll be careful, I promise!".- Step 4
This is what a Firefox filter bar looks like.
After you promise to be careful, Firefox will take you to a page full of intimidating computer stuff. Don't waste time looking around, and DON'T mess with anything!
There will be a filter bar at the top of your page. The filter bar looks exactly like the box you use to search for websites using IE, Firefox, or Google.
In the filter bar, type in:
keyword.URL
Again, type it in EXACTLY as shown. Do not add commas, quotation marks, or parentheses.- Step 5
Your screen will probably look exactly like this. This is a photo from my own computer.
Double click on "keyword.URL".
A window (if you aren't familiar with computer jargon, a window looks like a small box) will open up.
Using your backspace or delete key, erase the text in the window.
Replace the text with the following:
The "http" part is not optional. Type it exactly as shown above.- Step 6
Goodbye, and good riddance!
Click OK, and say adiós to Bing!- Step 7
Do a practice search to make sure that Google is your default search engine again. If not, repeat steps 1-4.
When repeating step 5, replace the text with the following:
- Google Search
If the previous http text didn't work, this should do the trick!- Step 8
Please consult a professional if repeating step 5 does not help. I am not liable for any damage you do to your computer (not like you'd get much if you tried to sue me anyway).

8 steps! Ponderous.
I'm Google's biggest fan. I love just about everything they do. Yet, every giant needs competition. To keep them cutting edge and making the best products, they need comparable rival.
The problem was in one of the upgrades of either firefox or windows or IE. Google was booted out and up came BIng.
The real problem for me is that I like to use the address bar to go to sites without typing the whole name. In Google, no problem. I am there.
With Bing I get a lame search. Have to click through. I bet Microsoft makes a fortune off people who click from Bing to retail sites.
Anyway, 5 minutes, problem solved.
