Last night I went to the 2 Years Anniversary of Paradise Bangkok at WTF gallery (anybody else go too?) and very good it was too. The music policy was "Far Eastern Psyche, Luk Thung, Molam, Raggae, Funk and African Roots" - I don't know what half of that is but I liked it, liked it a lot. Would be interested in hearing more alternative music.
Any recommended places for alternative music that people can share?

WTF, Club Culture, Cafe Democ, Shades of Retro, Saxophone on Fri at midnight, The Overstay. Monday nights at Barley Bar there's a nice open mic.

Did you get one of those free CDs too? Track 13 is quite incredible... I don't think I've ever heard anything like it before

That stuff is right up my alley, I'm a world funk 'crate digger' myself. You can also find Maft Sai's record shop (a fun visit) on that soi between TL and Ekkamai, near Tuba.
As for that CD though, I seem to have lost it later. I was truly gonzo drunk by 2am but I have faint memories of my final stop, and vague images of that CD on a table, where I likely left it.
I do remember nearly getting killed by a car going over 80 mph on Sukumvit though the Asoke intersection.
Good stuff. If that's your kind of music may I recommend the Paris DJs webpage Paris DJs (http://www.parisdjs.com/) They have lots of fantastic podcasts - loads of rare Afrobeat, reggae, weird bootlegs. I found out about Zudrangma because they put one of their tracks on a podcast.
Shame about that CD. Track 13 is really something else
