I leave next month for Thailand and am looking forward to it. I know there's a big gay scene in Bangkok for guys, but are there any hangouts that cater specifically for women looking to meet other women?
Also, if my employer finds out about my sexual preferences while I'm teaching, could this be grounds for terminating my employment?

you'll be fine. as with all sexual/romantic activity, keep it to yourself (and your partner) and all will be fine.
thai's don't pry but, equally, don't like 'personal' things flaunted in their faces.
Have you tried "The Rough Guide" and "Lonely Planet" for Bangkok and/or Thailand? Have a look at one/both in your local bookshop or online. They usually winkle out some details, I'm sure there must be places in Bangkok especially.
There's a gay section on Thai Visa's forum. I've not looked at it, but I'm sure there must be someone there who can answer some questions you may have.

Nah, don't worry about getting "outed" at work or getting fired if someone knows you're a lesbian. Most Thais will figure it out right away, but will never cause you any grief. They don't care!

Thanks Marmite! That TV link was very useful. From there I found a link to a site called Utopia which lists several places where it's common for bisexuals and lesbians to hang out. Some are gay bars that have a weekly ladies night.
Not really anywhere specifically for ladies though. Hmm, a business opportunity waiting to be acted upon by me perhaps...
