looking for a bit of advice..
I'm coming into Thailand next week, and wonder how to bring my savings. I don't have a bank account in Thailand, so can't transfer it.
The options I've been given here are either get a bankers' draft or exchange into dollars (it will be about $7000).
I was thinking bankers' draft until I read Bank of Bangkok's website which seemed limited on what drafts it accepts.
$7000 seems a lot for me to be carrying on my person.. would there be any issue getting through customs with it? Don't really want to tempt any hungry officals..

Seriously, leave it there. Don't bring that much cash with you. You can access it through an ATM. Also, if you have a credit card you will not be able to make payments from your Thai bank account.
Bring it in in cash. Check into your hotel then head down to Super Rich and exchange it into baht. Walk around the corner to Kasikorn Bank and open an account with an ATM card. Deposit money into said account and Bobs ya uncle.

AFAIK they still charge 150 baht each time you access it, so take it out in large-ish chunks.

Thanks a lot guys... So it's only 150 baht per transaction, rather than a %age? What is the maxium withdrawal limit on the machines? Feasible to withdraw it all in maximum chunks inside a bank?
Ok.. so I will get maybe 1000 bucks in cash, and bring the money in two bank accounts (half the money is locked in a plan in Bank of China, so will just open a new account with them to transfer that cash into)... That was I also have two bank cards, reducing machine-eating-my-card anxiety

i believe it's only 150 baht per transaction. i've never withdrawn money inside a bank so i don't know if it's the same as the ATM fees. i've always used paypal back and forth, but i think paypal fees are scaled. it's just easier.
i know you're talking about taking your own money out, but i no longer have a US bank account so if i'm getting money i either sold something, returned something, did a job for someone or got a gift from someone. in any of those cases, there are two steps: them giving me the money, me taking it out in baht. paypal simplifies it for me and, most importantly, for them.
