Hello,
I utilized a marriage visa earlier this year and went back home to visit and got a new Non Immigrant "B" visa. (I know weird move.... its a long story)A friend of mine told me its safer to be under a marriage visa. Since I already had a marriage visa, would I be able to get another marriage visa when I go back home next year to get a new visa?

Why do you have to go home for a new visa? Non-immigrant visas can be extended on a yearly basis at the Thai Immigration Office in your area/province.
Well, Im from Hawaii and we have a Thai Consulate in Hawaii and from what everybody's been saying is that it is way easier to get a new visas from a Consulate or embassy's in your home town if you have one there. Plus I usually go in April when Im on my summer break here and my travel expensis are all taken care of by my family back home.

When you have a non-immigrant B visa the extension of the permission of stay is based on having employment. If your employment stops, you permission of stay becomes void. A non-immigrant O visa (marriage) is based on being married to a Thai national. To get an extension of stay you need 400,000 THB in you bank account or proof of 40,000 THB monthly income (from abroad or from within Thailand). If you have a child the monthly income may be a combined income with your partner.
It is reported that several Labour Offices won't accept the non-immigrant O visa when applying for a work permit. Please inform yourself at the local Labour Office.

I don't think they allow combined now mate....I think you can use your wife's earnings if you have a kid with her....but only hers...not combined....that was changed a year or two ago when they let the 400K in the bank back in!!!

You don't need to change the Non-B. My first extension on my Non-B was for reason of marriage to a Thai National. They process it with the same paperwork as the Non-O extension. Just keep your Non-B and extend it based on your marriage. Immigration considers them basically the same as they have the same work eligibility. Don't waste time or money converting it.
If you never extend your visa, simply getting a new one each year, there shouldn't be a big difference.
With a B visa, not an extension, I believe you don't have to leave the same day if you lose your job. If extended at an immigration office, you would have to leave.
Thanks for the info guys. I will end up keeping my Non Immigrant "B" and not worry about changing it...
