Finally got my WD TV Personal Edition... ($90 Walmart)
Buried in the small print is the biggest and coolest thing about the new 'Personal' edition of the WD TV range... MIRACAST...
Miracast means that if you have a compatible Android smart phone (4.2 or higher) then you can 'MIRROR' anything on your phone to your big screen TV easily... including audio.
This is NOT the same as Chromecast - you do NOT need an internet connection to create a 'WiDi' connection between your phone and your WD TV Personal edition.
So - if you are a teacher - like me - and you use big screen TVs in your classroom, your life will never be the same again!
A couple of more notes... If you have the older versions of the WD TV range and prefer the smaller remote control, they are interchangeable.
The only advantage I have seen of having the larger remote is the mute button!
Yes STILL NO VOLUME on the remotes! Come on WD... get your shit together!

So no more time consuming conversions for those naughty downloads!
Lots of other advantages...
The onscreen interference is greatly reduced... the larger remote is much more responsive than the smaller ones - but they both work just fine.
The larger remote is easily customizeable if you want to set the colored buttons to do something that you use often... for example - take a screen shot of the TV or open up YouTube instantly...
The larger remote has a very clever slightly rubberized matt underside so it won't slip so easily off your pillow!

If you are a travelling teacher, like me, you'll find this item indispensable after you get the hang of it.
It's quick and easy to set up on the road and works with any TV that has an HDMI plug.
Does NOT need internet to 'mirror' content from your smart phone or tablet.
The media player works very well and can be viewed in different ways... tiles, file list, etc...
You can customize the home page and add short cuts to YouTube, etc.
You can even change the background on the TV and make it your business card!
If you have a personal cloud (The WD My Cloud is great!) the player will connect via DLNA to all your media.
