I wonder if anyone has also run into this situation. I will be starting a new job in a few weeks and I have always had a non O marriage visa. The department of labor will not issue a work permit with a non O any longer, they said that they had just changed their rules and from now on only Non B will be issued a work permit. That is pretty retarded since in order to extend the Non O, one stipulation is a work permit with 40K a month salary.
Is this only the retards in CM, or have others experienced this?
I will have to go to BKK to have them switch my Non O to a Non B. Not a big deal but a little bit of a pain in the ass since I have had the Non o for a few years now.

It's is reported that issuing a work permit based on a non-immigrant O (family member) or an extension of the permission of stay because of a family member, is at the discretion of the local Labour Office. Some accept the non-immigrant O (family member), some don't.

That's a rule of Royal Thai Immigration Bureau in relation to the extension of the permission of stay. Police Order 777-2551. It doesn't say a thing about a work permit though.
you are right, it states an income of 40K, however I have always had to show my Thai Tax statements.

That's the only proof that you had actually earned the 40,000 THB or more. Some Immigration Offices might request a certified PND91 form. For this you have to go to the Provincial Revenue department.
Here's the section of the Working of Aliens Act 2008 related to the Immigration status:
Section 10. The alien who is eligible for the permit under section 9
shall have the place of residence in the Kingdom or has been permitted to enter into
the Kingdom temporarily under the law on immigration in any status other than
tourists or transit passenger and shall not have any prohibitions as prescribed by the
Ministerial Regulation.
This section is similar to the one in the Working of Aliens Act 1978.
I have underlined the last part to stipulated that both the Department of Labour and Immigration have the authority to issue specific rules.
I've always renewed my O by showing my tax returns (ปงด91) if I'm spelling it correctly! I'm renewing my WP this month in Bangkok, I'll post here if the Labor Dept. in Bangkok gives me any problems with it. My O won't expire until August.
