I found some cheap Olive Oil while extending my visa at the government building. It was 50 baht per bottle. The only problem is that it is expiring in one month. I figure I can use at least half the bottle before expiration.
I did a whiff test and it seemed ok.
I just recovered from a deadly diarrhea, so I get worried about this country sometimes.

Cheap Olive oil isn't worth it. It needs to be kept in the dark. So if buying from a 24 hour supermarket it needs to be in a can. A lot of the stuff is also diluted with other oil...but they don't tell you. I buy Australian Olive Oil (only because the Kiwi stuff is too expensive!!) because I know it is probably the real thing.

If the label says, 'Chateau de Loei,' that's the cheap stuff.
Usually there is a range of prices for Olive oil. Buy the most or second most expensive and it should be real Olive oil. I've read the cheap ones you get at the dollar stores are not pure olive oil.

Beware of cheap Olive Oil. You mean extra virgin, right? That is the healthy kind. Cold pressed is best.
The cheap brands and even some not-so-cheap brands have been busted for selling shite Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
I started a thread on that that gained some traction, so I'll bump it.
Yes, I bought it cheap because it was close to expiry date. Does not mean the product is cheaply made.... so beware of cheap olive oil does not apply here, does it?

My wife was not amused when we ran out of the usual lube and I used vegetable oil. What I thought was complementary, she found to be eclectic.
The EV in EVOO certainly makes olive oil a logical candidate for the job. Maybe I should have gone with sesame oil?
