Reported a week ago in the Washington Post and finally emerging in the UK press. Just short of 800 skeletons of infants and children who died between 1925 and 1961, were discovered in a septic tank near a disused home for unwed mothers in Galway, Ireland.
Originally found by children in 1975 the response was to seal the tank and forget about it. So it remained until a female journalist researching the story discovered it recently.
Irish PM Enda Kenny has said that there are believed to be about 3,200 similar skeletons in three similar establishments in Ireland.
What words are there for this? Sickening, horrific etc., I do not know of any , it speaks for itself, but what in the name of God or humanity has been going on here.
What a sad country, but what wonderful people. Tis a pity they espoused Catholicism, or maybe even Christianity.
That's depressing! Gets me to asking how they were taken out .. gas chamber, crematorium, blow to the head? And who did the work, a live-in executioner, Marcel Chevalier perhaps?

I read a story in the Bangkok Post not too many moons ago about a temple in Bangkok which attracted some attention because there was a penetrating smell coming from the basement. Turns out that women who aborted (!) took their fetuses there, in plastic bags, looked almost like frozen chicken.
But they weren't frozen. There were hundreds all over the place, rotting away in the heat.
Just a small story with a photo, no follow up AFAIK.

If they died a natural death why haven't they been buried in the traditional way?
Maybe I jumped to conclusions talking about murder but a home for unwed mothers hiding dead kids doesn't seem "natural" to me.

Doesn't make sense. With homes for unwed mothers in existence I doubt that mothers would dump their dead kids into septic tanks.
There was something more sinister going on.
The lady who kicked all this off Catherine Corless (I was wrong she is a historian not a journalist) has a website of this and similar sickening outrages, forced separation for adoption, forced emigration of children etc. Pretty desperate reading. Terrible way to treat children, and their mothers who were not much more than children themselves.
Many questions being asked in the Irish Dail and media, even Sinn Fein (prop. G. Adams from the well known family of child molesters) getting in on the act.
One of the main causes of death has been stated as malnutrition. But there are reports of a few adult skeletons as well. Calling this the tip of the iceberg would be inaccurate but there seems to be definitely more to come.
Natural deaths? I don't really see it, apparently two a week at one stage. Statistically unlikely, unless you have a broad definition of natural death.
