...Located in Mahatun Plaza (Ploenchit bts) one door before La Monita. As the latter was full up with lesbians (more later), we wandered back to El Osito: it boasts the same management as La Monita. The interior is airy with an industrial feel (polished concrete floor, brick walls, etc) and plenty of light. The menu features soups, salads, and sandwiches and a variety of beers: however, despite the same ownership as next door, no margaritas...a lemon drop was suggested: lime juice and vodka, shaken with ice...a bit sweet, but otherwise very smooth. SD ordered the reuben sandwich with fries while I had the cobb salad. The reuben was good: homemade pastrami, gruyere, russian dressing on toasted rye...not NYC deli good, but still tasty. The salad was excellent: freshly grilled chicken breast on a bed of crisp lettuce with chopped avocado and the usual salad ingredients, all bathed in a light creamy dressing. We agreed that we would order both items again. B920 was the total, including an Asahi beer and water (the lemon drop was B300: definitely not worth a repeat order). We'll visit again whenever La Monita is full.
We dropped into the taqueria for post-luncheon margaritas: it was still crowded and dominated by a table of babydoll Thai girls (mid-20s acting like single digits) and, in the next room, a gathering of incredibly loud foreign women. The intensity of their shrieking was such that we found it difficult to discuss anything but them. They carried their circus on rather butch shoulders as they left, walking single file out the front door: lesbos on parade! The lesbian staff at La Monita were right behind them, handing out phone numbers and likely meeting spots.
This is why I love La Monita (and why, I suspect, it is usually so crowded): margaritas and free entertainment.
El Osito
Respondlesbos on parade. i like that.

mental picture conjured is of a particularly drill-sergeant-ish dyke calling out military style cadences as they marched... er.... out.
...more of an unruly file of margarita linebackers...
i see a rumble of pasty broads with really bad lawnmower haircuts and sideboobs and backboobs spilling out of black leather vests, wondering if they've paid their tab as they parade past the burly hairybacked maitre'd of indeterminate gender.
...not quite that elegant: no maitre d' at La Monita...

There's something intensely erotic about this phrasing.

The last two times I've been to La Monita it has been noisy beyond description - usually with similar types to those you mention here.
...it must be the margaritas: they go down so quickly, you're hardly aware of your descent into banshee territory...
